Blog Tour + Giveaway : Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains) by Laurie Boyle Crompton
Goodreads Summary : Blaze is tired of spending her life on the sidelines, drawing comics and feeling invisible. She's desperate for soccer star Mark to notice her. And when her BFF texts Mark a photo of Blaze in sexy lingerie, it definitely gets his attention. After a hot date in the back of her minivan, Blaze is flying high, but suddenly Mark's feelings seem to have been blasted by a freeze-ray gun, and he dumps her. Blaze gets her revenge by posting a comic strip featuring uber-villain Mark the Shark. Mark then retaliates by posting her "sext" photo, and, overnight, Blaze goes from Super Virgin Girl to Super Slut. That life on the sidelines is looking pretty good right about now..
My Rating : 4 of 5 stars
My Thoughts : A damn fun read, that’s all I can say. Just an exciting fun read. Blaze is a book that not only applies to the comic book lovers like me, but also for a verity of readers. The title first that caught my attention Blaze (or Love in the Time of Super Villain). For the love of Villains, I’m totally in love with them. I mean who needs a hero when you can have a kick butt villain.
A story about a comic geek girl with a cool name Blaze and her alter ego was Blazing Goddess. Not only that, she also draws her own panel of Amazing Alter Ego of Blazing Goddess. When her BFF texts Mark a photo of Blaze in sexy lingerie, Mark suddenly became interest in Blaze. But when Mark dumps her after their one night stand, her dreams shattered and she plans on getting a sweet revenge by posting a comic strip featuring uber-villain Mark the Shark. To strike back, Mark post her ‘sext’ photos, and Blaze goes from Super Virgin Girl to Super Slut.
I loved Blaze. She was quirky and funny, over all she was a charter worth reading for. Her voice of narration was eccentric and strikingly informal. She and Mark amazingly wound their way through the story line and made it more interesting.
The story was totally different and unique, fun and exciting. Overall it was hilarious and heart-breaking at the same time. I have never read something like that. Being a comic lover myself, I must have to say, how cool was the entire concept was. The writing was a little juvenile but the author did a blow job.
I really enjoyed almost everything about the book. And if you want to read something different, you must try this book once.
